Use this page to reach the editor of the independent guide. Use it for corrections, source suggestions, and questions about the rebuild. Do not use it to book a bed, a tasting, or a park pass. Those requests belong with operators and with the official visitor centre in the 1923 railway station on Albany Highway.
If you are standing in Mount Barker and you need a map today, go to that station desk. The Shire of Plantagenet publishes its own contact channels for council business. Parks and Wildlife’s Albany office is the official contact for Porongurup National Park listed on Explore Parks WA.
What to include in a note
A useful message names the page, the sentence that looks wrong, and the official source you think we missed. A less useful message asks which cellar door is best. We will not rank one.
If your note is about a heritage business name, remember the rule on those pages: historical listing, details unverified. We can correct a misspelling or a GI fact. We cannot certify that a 2005 phone number still rings.
Other ways to continue
- About explains that this is not the official visitor centre.
- Disclaimer covers trademarks and reliance.
- Write for us sets the editorial bar for contributors.
The form below is an AJAX FormSubmit form. It is the only contact mechanism this site provides. There is no live chat, and there is no phone staffed by this guide.
What happens to a message
The form posts to FormSubmit and lands in the editor inbox named on the page. It is not monitored like a visitor-centre counter. If you wrote at 9 p.m. about tomorrow’s walk, you should still use official park pages tonight. A reply, when it comes, will be about the guide — a correction, a source, a clarification of independence — not about a booking.
Do not send payment information. Do not send passport scans. Do not send press kits. Do not send a guest post that fails write for us.
Who you should contact instead
- Park fees, trail status, closures: Explore Parks WA / Parks and Wildlife. The Albany office is the contact listed on the Porongurup park page.
- Shire services, dump point questions, civic hours: Shire of Plantagenet.
- What is open today, paper maps, last-minute beds: Mount Barker Visitor Centre, railway station, Albany Highway.
- A cellar door or stay: the operator, once you have a current number from a current page.
- Emergency: Australia’s national emergency number, not a tourism form.
If you are unsure which of those five you need, you probably need the visitor centre, not this inbox.
Corrections we want
A kilometre figure that no longer matches a Shire or Trails WA page. A building that has changed role, with a citation. A heritage listing whose name is misspelled. A redirect that 404s when it should 301. A spam path that still renders.
A correction we do not want: “please list my business” without an official reason for the page to exist. Heritage slugs exist because the old site had them. New businesses do not get a new slug by asking.
Accessibility of this form
The fields are name, email, and message. If the form fails, the page tells you to email the same address directly. If JavaScript is off, you will not get the AJAX behaviour; use email. We will not test-submit the form in development as a stunt. Please do not use the form to send nonsense so you can “see if it works” — that is how independent inboxes die.
If you are a reader who only wanted to know we are not the visitor centre, you can leave without writing. The about page was written for you. If you still want to write, the form is below. Say which page you were on. That one line saves a round trip.
After you send
You should not expect an itinerary in return. If you asked a park-safety question, we will point you back to Parks and Wildlife even if we also tidy a sentence on our side. If you asked for a cellar-door booking, we will decline. If you asked whether a heritage name still trades, we will say that the listing is historical unless you included a current official source.
The form is a letter to an editor. Treat it like one. The visitor centre is a desk. Treat that like a desk. The district is easier when those two jobs stay apart. If you opened this page because an old /contact.aspx or /contact_us.php bookmark still lives in your browser, you are in the right new place — same job, cleaner path, still not a booking desk. Heritage contact files stop here.
