Mount Barker, Western Australia

Administration, Townsite and Retail!

TOWN CENTRE
The Shire of Plantagenet, in which Mount Barker is located as the central main town, is administratively modern whilst still maintaining an authentic and traditional country town feel, friendliness and life pace.

As the Local Government Authority, the Shire of Plantagenet, is located in the magnificent and expansive single story complex at the south end of the CBD.
The elected Shire President and Councillors, together with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and staff  are justifiably proud of their promotion and administration of “The Shire” and engagement with ratepayers, residents and other stakeholders.
Much work has been undertaken in landscaping and other visual aesthetics within the Mount Barker town centre, with pedestrian friendly wide and spacious brick paved thoroughfares,  low speed controlled vehicular access and angled parking.

The town centre boasts a modern and spacious Shopping Complex, complemented by a wide range of retail merchandising and services. Thirsts and hunger are well catered for by a bountiful supply of food outlets, cafes and two grand old country hotels that, in great Australian tradition, anchor the top(south) and bottom(north) of the main street. If you are new to town, either as a resident, visitor or tourist, then Around Town provides you with both the location and trading hours of retail and service outlets - together with a handy map. A comprehensive Shire of Plantagenet wide Directory of services is also available.
