Welcome to the Mount Barker Visitor Centre website and thank you for visiting.
Mount Barker, just 360 kilometres south of Perth, is located within the Shire of Plantagenet, one of thirteen Local Government municipalities that make up the Great Southern Region.
Framed by the spectacular Stirling (to the north) and Porongurup (to the south) Ranges, Mount Barker and surrounds offers a
wealth of Tourist opportunities and experiences.

Clean air, large National Parks, fertile farmland, bountiful vineyards, wonderful award winning wines, captivating cellar doors , eating and tasting experiences for every palate and budget , breathtaking scenery, leisurely "old fashioned" friendly shopping and service, history steeped heritage attractions , an abundance of seasonal wildflowers (some of which are found nowhere else in the world) coupled with incredible and diverse accommodation combine uniquely to make Mount Barker a MUST SEE AND STAY tourist destination!
Throughout the year, Mount Barker plays host to a vast array of spectacular Festivals and Events, including "Grapes and Gallops" (January), Porongurup Wines Festival (March), Porongurup Art In The Park (March/April) and the Taste Great Southern Festival (February to April).
The Mount Barker Visitor Centre, the "shop front" of the Mount Barker Tourist Bureau ( located in the 1923 built renovated Railway building - see map below) is staffed by friendly volunteers who will do everything they can to ensure your experience is both memorable and enjoyable.
Pop in to our centre, say hello, grab a map and informational brochures and flyers, and above all, sample what we have to offer � whether for a few hours, a day or longer � we are confident that you will be glad you did!
